Magnificent Monday is a tradition started by Jim McIntosh of ;
http://holesinmysoles.blogspot.com/2011/11/vintage-magnificent-monday.html, Every week he picks a different subject and post a blog on that subject. This week is vintage, I chose to do vintage photos, he chose vintage modes of transport. If you would like to join in the fun there is a Mr.Linky on his page and leave your link on posts you visit. I have only captioned a couple of these photos, the people are all my relatives from long ago, mostly on my mother's side. I was interested in sharing the vintage photography more so than my lineage. I feel incredably blessed to be in posession of these photos.
Isn't it wonderful to have these old photos? I've inherited a lot of them from my parents (who were great at saving all of the photos from their parents and other relatives, too). I'm really grateful for that. Thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteYour photos show a wonderful heritage. What fascinating photos! I love your dad with the dog...so sweet!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME photos...As always...XOXOXOXO
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful Jan! Blessed you are indeed to be in possession of these beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to be in possession of incredible photos such as these. I have some from both my mother and father's side of the family...all I need now is a scanner to get them onto my computer :) Really enjoyed this post! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI could sit and look at these kinds of photos all day long. It takes me back to years of another lifetime it seems :)
ReplyDeleteThese are priceless...thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteYou know, people who have been victims of fire or flooding always regret that they've lost so much memories mainly because their collection of family photos have been destroyed. Yes, these old photos link us to our past and help us relive or even imagine the moments when these photos were taken.
ReplyDelete@ Cathy; some of ours were lost but we did salvage a lot of them. It is an honor to share them. thank youfor the visit.
ReplyDelete@ Leah; Thank you for the words and visit.
@ Bongo; thanks there the sane side of the family, lol.
@ Neleita; Thank you for the visit.
@ Mary; I don't know how I lived without a scanner...thank you for the visit.
@ Anna; I do spend hours looking at these and some other photos I have. thank you for the visit.
@ Alpana; Thank you.
@ Easy Hiker; I know how it feels to lose memories to fire and flood both, my family and I did experience both, thankfully some of the photos hadn't come west yet, but even some of these were damaged in the fire. We lost a lot of our pictures of travels with just the 4 of us. I have them in the computer now and on disc as well. Thank you.
This is a prized possession and so glad that you have shared them with us. Thanks Jan. All these photos would carry so many stories and I will be more than willing to hear them.
ReplyDeleteJoy always,
Susan
Great shots. Vintage photography is always interesting.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing pictures ~ thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the one of your dad and the dog!!! That is classic vintage! :)
ReplyDeleteJan - I wish I had a pic of my Mom and Dad when they were that young - those are priceless! Why do I feel a sense of nostalgia viewing your family's photographs??? Hmmmm - must be something to do with the vintage collection : ) Loved your treasure!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, those photos are fantastic! they remind me of my mom's pics and all that time when I wasn't born yet..
ReplyDeleteNice to see those photos Jan. When you see these, do you ever wonder about how they thought and felt, the experiences, sometimes hard, that they went through?
ReplyDeleteOne of the great joys of this IT Age and the ability to operate our own blogs is that now we can leave our thoughts and feelins, record our experiences and perceptions for our successive generations; not just photos.
Isn't that incredible?
@ Susan; I am happy to share and if I knew the stories I would share, Thank you!!
ReplyDelete@ Nancie, Thank you.
@ Liz21; Thank you dear, I love them all. <3<3<3
@ Rachel; Thank you I love the one of him with Pete too, that is the dog or little Rascals. He was proud of that photo into his adulthood.
@ Kriti; Yes these are a treasure, I love the ones of my folks when they were still happy together. Thank you.
@ Miss Lego; Thanks, I love them too, the top two are of my mom's uncles, they are very old.
@ Jim; Oh I ask my mother all the time about things from her earliest memories, some of these are from before her time as well. It is incredible what we can do now, part of the reason I do the photo blog for mom. I want to interview her again but so much of what I hear is the negative. The healing process for her, getting it out, something she has never done. I am always excited to learn things of my personal family history. The way I write my grandkids will never wonder about me.LOL
@ Rachel, I meant Our Gang not the Little Rascals. I don't even know where that came from. I have always known who Pete was. sheesh!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos and walking down memory lane
